If you want degraded audio quality this is for you!Mar 09, 2010

"Evil is as Evil does."
I have used other piggyback cables in the past and none have had this low quality, especially for the price point. I could see if the cord was $1 maybe but. almost $10?
What im trying to say is there is a huge degrade in audio quality that is noticeable right when you plug the cord in, even if you dont split 2 connections it is very apparent how bad your audio now is. I tried it and promptly sent it back thanks to Amazon and they're great return service.
Thanks Amazon :)

Works well for intended purpose, inexpensiveJan 21, 2012

Several reviewers seem to be using this cable for unintended purposes. The cable is intended to be used to connect one output to two inputs. Using it to connect two outputs to one input might work if you are lucky, but is fraught with problems, and it is not the cable's fault.
Using it to connect one output to two inputs connects an output of approximately 100 ohms impedance to two very high impedance inputs, which works very well at the very low analog audio frequencies. Analog audio is not very demanding, and as long as the cable is reasonably shielded and makes good contact at the connectors, it will work well.
Connecting two outputs together has problems. Standard line outputs have an impedance of about 100 ohms, but can vary. A headphone output, which can usually be used as a line out with success (and is commonly done), has an output impedance of about 30 ohms or so. Speaker outputs, which can also work successfully to a line input (if you don't turn up the volume too high), has an impedance more like 4 ohms. If you connect two line level outputs together with a similar impedance, you might get away with it. Mixing any of the types listed above will provide unpredictable results, usually bad. Connecting two speaker outputs together might burn out the output transistors. In any case, it is NOT the cable's fault. The cable just connects the wires together. It does not perform magic. For connecting two outputs together, a $50 cable will work as poorly as a $5 cable. Use a switchbox instead.
Gave only 4 stars as it is not a super high quality cable, but for the price I was not expecting anything more. At Radio Shack this cable is $16.95. Yes, it is better quality and gold plated, but this one works just fine for my needs.
So use it for connecting one output to two inputs. Do do not use it for connecting two outputs to one input. Use a switch box for that instead. Do not use it for video. Maybe it will work, but it is not designed for that.

terrible sound quality when plugged in two cablesJan 07, 2012
By Robert Selle Enterprises first things first i was running this cord from a cd player to a receiver and the sound quality was okay about the same as normal cords. when i plugged in my ipod into the end of the cables the sound quality of the cd player and the ipod diminished terribly you get what you pay for don't buy you are better off getting an av splitter
Excellent productFeb 07, 2012
By dinoman4 This product works great. It is an excellent product. You can use it any where you need to have two audio sources in one unit.
had my doubts, but it works greatJan 07, 2012
By Brian I was skeptical of their quality, but once I plugged them in I could tell no loss in sound. Makes me wish all cables were like this to piggyback on
